Home Care Relieves Elder Isolation

Isolation for elders is a significant health issue.  Why?  Because isolation is the result of aging issues including mental health, physical health, and emotional health.

With mental health, the underlying issue may be depression.  Regarding physical health, it may be the loss of functional ability —  not being able to walk, drive, and carryout household chores.  Emotional well-being can be overwhelmed by personal loss, frustration with limitations, and embarrassment.

In-home care services can alleviate many of issues associated with elder isolation.  At a very basic level, home care services and home care staff effect an interpersonal relationship between an elderly parent and another human being.  In this case, someone to talk to, work with, and share daily life.  The benefit of having someone in your home who cares about your well-being can not be over stated.

Seniors feeling “homebound” will have renewed access to the world beyond their living room.  Home care staff will assist with running some errands, or getting out to the grocery store.  This independence enables the elderly to continue to manage themselves, and their household, by having a choice in determining their daily agenda, along with their daily tasks and routines.
