Tips to Combat Allergies

It’s nearly impossible to completely avoid spring allergies if you live in an area where plants grow. And who doesn’t?? You can, however, avoid the main allergy triggers by following these tips:

– Stay indoors as much as possible whenever the pollen count is very high

– Keep doors and windows closed to keep allergens out

– Use an air purifier and clean the air filters in your home often and regularly dust bookshelves, vents, and other places where pollen can collect

– Wash your hair after going outside because pollen can collect there

– Vacuum twice a week – and wear a mask because vacuuming can kick up pollen, mold, and dust trapped in the carpet

Finally, somewhat unrelated to seasonal allergies, but very specific to warming weather…remember to be alert for ticks! As we all start to get out into backyards, walk in tall grass, and exercise our pets, you should be very aware of ticks transferring onto your skin or clothing. It has already happened to me…
